Container Networking Fundamentals

Containers need to communicate. They need to talk to each other, to the host, and to the outside world. But here's the challenge: each container has its own network namespace. From the container's perspective, it has its own network stack, its own IP address, its own ports. How does a request from the internet reach a container? How do two containers on the same host find each other? This module answers those questions. We'll start with the fundamental network isolation problem, then learn Docker's solutions: port mapping, bridge networks, and built-in DNS. By the end of this module, you'll understand how packets flow from your browser to a containerized web server, and how containers communicate with each other without hardcoded IP addresses.
